The American Law Society is proud to announce Laura E. Sanchez-Rivét has been accepted as a new member
Laura E. Sanchez-Rivét a Partner at Cuddy & McCarthy, LLP. The firm is located in New Mexico and they offer a broad range of services to their clients. Laura’s reputation and history of dedication, excellence, and consistency have captured the attention of the American Law Society Board. She has earned the “America’s Top Lawyer” distinction.
Ms. Sanchez-Rivét’s practice is focused on business, government affairs and regulatory issues in New Mexico and Arizona. She joined Cuddy & McCarthy LLP, in 2015, but has fourteen years of legal experience and more than twenty years of experience in government and legislative issues. In addition, Ms. Sanchez-Rivét is well versed in public finance, real estate, corporate transactions. She has also represented clients in employment matters and civil litigation.
Ms. Sanchez-Rivét’s obstinate passion for helping others was fostered by her mom, which spurred her to pursue a career in law. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Arizona in 1999. Thereafter, she earned a Master of Public Administration from The University of Arizona in 2001, followed by her Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law in 2004.
Ms. Sanchez-Rivét’s professional associations are numerous, as is her commitment to disseminating her knowledge. Not only is she a member of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association, in addition, she also mentors through the association. In the past, she has served as an adjunct professor and currently teaches continuing legal education courses.
Prior to becoming a partner at Cuddy & McCarthy, Ms. Sanchez-Rivét founded and managed Sanchez Legal Solutions; served as CEO of the New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce; served as a staff attorney at the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department; and worked for five years as a staff attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council, where her primary focus concerned energy and environmental issues affecting New Mexico and Arizona.
As a result of her profound experience with environmental and energy issues, in 2009 Governor Bill Richardson appointed her to serve on the Board of Directors for the NM Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA). She served as RETA’s Projects Committee Chair through July 2011. Notably, Ms. Sanchez-Rivét frequently appeared as a panelist on the TV show New Mexico In Focus on New Mexico PBS (KNME).
Ms. Sanchez-Rivét joined the American Law Society to network among her peers and to increase awareness of her skills and capabilities. She looks forward to continuing to grow her practice and mentoring.
