Todd T. Taylor was born in South Bend, Indiana. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University, graduating in the top nine percent of his class. Following his undergraduate studies, Todd worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as an engineer for approximately three and a half years. During his tenure, he was responsible for the development and design of weapon systems for U.S. Special Forces, the design of electronic packaging assemblies and systems for onboard U.S. naval ship computers, and served as chairman of an IEEE working group on next-generation computer standards.
Todd later earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University at Indianapolis, Indiana, where he graduated in the top twenty-one percent of his class.
Specializing in patent law, Todd focuses on matters relating to mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies. Growing up on a farm, he has maintained a strong background in agricultural technologies. His previous work designing weapons for U.S. Special Forces has given him a robust background in weapons design technologies. During his undergraduate studies, Todd's elective classes were centered on internal combustion (IC) engines, an area in which he continues to provide IP legal services.
In addition to his expertise in patent law, Todd advises clients on trademark and copyright matters. His services include searches, opinions (patentability, validity, and infringement), applications, prosecution, design-around consultation, licensing, and development agreements. He also handles trademark and copyright searches, opinions, applications, prosecution, and licensing. Todd's practice extends to trade secret law, including litigation related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, as well as employment and confidentiality agreements.
