Amir Lastra De Leon is a seasoned legal professional with over 47 years of extensive experience across diverse legal disciplines, including Mediation, Contract Negotiation, Labor Relations, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. In her current position at ABB Electrification business, Amir serves as the Commercial Legal and Integrity Counsel for the Central America and Caribbean regions. Her role involves ensuring robust compliance and integrity support, fostering a strong connection between ABB's well-known compliance culture and overall business performance. Amir plays a pivotal role in assisting ABB with legal and integrity endeavors for the commercial team in the region.
Amir began her tenure with GE in 1992 as legal counsel. Over the years, she took on roles of increasing responsibility, including legal, compliance, and government relations for GE in Puerto Rico and extending her expertise to Latin America and North America.
From March 2014, Amir drove compliance communication and training initiatives as the Global Compliance Leader for Communications and Training, empowering GE’s business growth while ensuring uncompromising integrity. Her duties as Global Compliance Leader and Senior Legal Counsel included optimizing global compliance programs, managing strategic corporate management and restructuring, handling labor and employment litigation, and advising on commercial transactions and disputes.
Amir holds a Bachelor of Arts from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and a Juris Doctor from the School of Law at Interamerican University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico and the US federal courts, including the US District Court and US Court of Appeals. Throughout her career, Amir has been recognized in the GC Legal 500 Powerlist for Puerto Rico in November 2023 and received the "Distinguished Scholar" Honor from the School of Law, Interamerican University of Puerto Rico in November 2011. She has also contributed as a member of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court Committee on Bar Exam Admissions.
