HDR is expanding its leadership team and capabilities in response to growth in the Dakotas and Wyoming. The following are all based in the Sioux Falls office:
•Jason Kjenstad has been promoted to Dakotas/Wyoming area manager. With HDR since 1999, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility in both operational and technical roles. He most recently worked in operations for the area’s transportation group.
•Kjenstad replaces Mike Coleman, who was promoted to North Central water program lead. Coleman has been with HDR since 2008. His role focuses on providing innovative engineering services to water clients across 13 states. He will continue to locally deliver for clients.
•Paul Sanow has joined HDR as a transportation project manager. He has more than 20 years of engineering experience, most recently with the city of Brandon. He will focus on municipal and roadway engineering projects statewide.
•Kelsey McGregor, a project coordinator and registered notary who specializes in title review, clearance and related activities, recently became a licensed real estate broker associate in the state of South Dakota. She has been with HDR since 2013.
Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc. of Sioux Falls has named the winners of its annual Women of Excellence Awards.
•Honored for their achievements were: Excellence in Marketing: Kendra Calhoun, Avera; Excellence in Sales: Kristin Hoefert, Northwestern Mutual; Entrepreneurial Excellence: Amy Stockberger, The Amy Stockberger Team; Supporting Excellence: Laura Nemec, SGT Contractor at EROS; and Excellence through the Decades: Cindy Hoy, Sanford.
Carla Campbell has joined Alternative HRD as a human resource consultant. She has more than 16 years of human resource experience, primarily in health care, with experience as an HR generalist, while managing independent medical practices. She was regional director for a 12 Clinic Management Services Organization in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and regional manager/client account manager for a Medical Billing Consulting Company in Sioux Falls. She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute, and as a Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the local chapter, Sioux Empire SHRM.
Dick Groeger is the newest addition to the Reliabank Mortgage team. He has spent nearly 40 years serving the Sioux Falls market as a mortgage lender.
•Reliabank Mortgage is currently located on 57th Street, just west of Western Avenue, but will be moving this summer to the new Reliabank building under construction at 85th and Minnesota. The new bank building will be the first Reliabank branch in Sioux Falls and will complement the other local branches in Tea, Hartford and Humboldt.
The South Dakota Science Teachers’ Association has honored the South Dakota Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research with its Friend of Science Award. SD EPSCoR promotes and supports educators, research faculty and programs in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Mel Ustad is the SD EPSCoR director.
Craig Heien of Tea, has achieved membership in the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table, a coveted career milestone that offers the opportunity to share innovative ideas and best practices with other leading financial professional members.
The National Association of Women in Construction Greater Sioux Falls Chapter No. 237 honored Alice Ann Krantz, of BX Civil and Construction, Inc., with the 2018 Influential Woman in Construction award.
Michelle Mongeon Allen has been appointed the new chief executive officer of JLG Architects, an employee-owned architecture firm that is one of Inc. Magazine’s 50 Best Places to Work in America and Building Design + Construction’s Top 75 Architecture Giants. The positions of president and CEO were previously combined at JLG, held by founder Lonnie Laffen. Laffen will continue as president. Mongeon Allen of Dayton, Minn., has informally held the role of CEO for the past several years and the time had come to make it official.
The American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys has recognized the exceptional performance of South Dakota’s Criminal Law Attorney Edward P. Angel as Two Years 10 Best Criminal Law Attorneys for Client Satisfaction.
Amy L. Arndt, an experienced deal attorney with deep roots in the region, has been named managing partner of Ballard Spahr’s office in Sioux Falls. Arndt, who joined Ballard Spahr as part of the firm’s merger with Lindquist & Vennum on Jan. 1, has more than 20 years of experience in securities law and corporate finance and transactional matters. She is one of 271 equity partners at Ballard Spahr. She advises business owners on issues involving operations, management succession, financing, and restructuring. She also represents privately held companies in private placement offerings, mergers and acquisitions, asset sales and purchases, and corporate governance matters. Arndt has served as chair of the South Dakota Bar Association, Business Law Committee for the past six years.
•In addition, The American Lawyer has ranked Ballard Spahr sixth in the nation for its percentage of female equity partners, and it was recognized by Law360 as one of the top 10 U.S. law firms for women attorneys. Ballard Spahr has earned Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum for the past seven years in recognition of its high number of women in firm leadership, as well as for the promotion and compensation of women attorneys.
